From Rome to Kent – The Baroque Style in English Furniture

Baroque English FurnitureThis lecture combines looking at furniture with looking at the interiors for which it was designed as it follows the Baroque style from St Peter’s in Rome through Versailles in France to numerous English houses designed by William Kent, whose Palladian classicism was to dominate the early 18th Century.   After having gone baroque, English style went rococo – the lecture will illustrate the difference!
