English and French Furniture of the 18th Century (Specially prepared for Paris DFAS)
An examination of baroque, rococo and neo-classical furniture from both sides of the Channel.
English eyes often look to France for the latest style or fashion and many an 18th century English drawing room emulated its French counterpart in the application of the baroque, rococo and neo-classical styles. However, as this lecture will show, the imaginative interpretation of these styles by British designers & craftsmen created some of the finest elegant furniture of either side of the Channel.
