The reigns of Queen Anne and George I herald the Golden Age of English Cabinet Making with walnut furniture that was sophisticated in range, style and decoration.   The dovetailed carcass work of the cabinetmaker became the base for fashionable and expensive veneers or exquisite marquetry pictures and patterns but perhaps most pleasing to us now are items reflecting proportion and decorative simplicity.
